Montgomery Parks will hold its fourth annual wood sale on Nov. 9-10. The sale gives woodworkers, furniture makers, and craft enthusiasts a chance to buy wood salvaged from county parks. It runs from 8 a.m. to noon each day at the Green Farm Maintenance Facility, 8301 Turkey Thicket Drive in Gaithersburg, while supplies last.
This year’s sale features cedar, pine, poplar, oak, beech, ash, and more. Customers can choose from kiln-dried, planed, and air-dried wood. Thicknesses range from three-quarters of an inch to three inches. Prices range from $5 to $400, based on size, quality, and type. Purchases are credit card only, with no advance sales. All proceeds benefit Montgomery Parks’ Urban Wood Waste Recycling and Green Waste Recycling Programs.
The sale also includes a limited amount of wood from the historic Linden Oak, a 300-year-old white oak removed last summer. The tree stood near Beach Drive and Rockville Pike in North Bethesda. Wood from the Linden Oak will be limited to one piece per customer.
Food trucks Pacha Mama Juice Co. and Scratch Kitchen will be on-site with refreshments available for purchase.
The wood sale offers a local source for winter projects or holiday gifts while supporting sustainability efforts.
Mark your calendars for our fourth annual Urban Wood Sale! Join us on November 9 & 10 starting at 8 am to 12 pm at Green Farm Maintenance Facility, where you can find the perfect piece of wood for your next project! Wood sizes and prices vary. https://t.co/KM40bpQWQD pic.twitter.com/fFf58cdWRG
