County fire and rescue responded to more than 150 calls for service over a four-hour period during heavy snow Tuesday night.
Most were weather-related, including dozens of crashes, and wires down — particularly on Route 29 in Burtonsville and on 16th Street in Silver Spring, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer.
There were also a few fires. Firefighters and paramedics responded to the more than 150 calls between 6-10 p.m.
Downed wires in Burtonsville left hundreds of cars stranded during Tuesday night’s snow. Wires fell across all lanes on Columbia Pike/Route 29 near Blackburn Road, Piringer reported at 8:30 p.m. He said several hundred vehicles were confined and unable to pass.
The lanes have since opened.
