Dr. Anthony Fauci and Jose Andrés were among seven recipients honored at the Portrait of a Nation gala at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. Saturday night.
Fauci, 81, is the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAAD) and the Chief Medical Advisor to the President.
Chef and humanitarian Andres, 53, is the founder oof World Central Kitchen.
Also honored were tennis icons Venus and Serena Williams, filmmaker Ava DuVernay, music executive Clive Davis and Marian Wright Edelman, founder and president emerita of the Children’s Defense Fund (CDF), who has been an advocate for disadvantaged Americans her entire professional life.
The portraits of the new honorees will be on display through October 2023.
