CNN is reporting that Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s top infectious disease expert, will retire before the end of President’s current term. Fauci, 81, is the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and the Chief Medical Advisor for the President.
Fauci has worked at the National Institutes (NIH) in Bethesda for over 50 years.
