If, like millions of people around the country, you are trying to find out if you won the Powerball lottery, you’ll have to wait. Powerball announced a delay in the drawing due to one participating lottery that is still “processing its sales and play data.” The drawing was scheduled to occur Monday night at its regular time of 10:59 p.m.
According to a statement from the Multi-State Lottery Association, “Currently, one participating lottery is still processing its sales and play data. Powerball requires all participating lotteries to submit their sales and play data prior to the winning numbers being selected. Once Powerball receives the outstanding submission, the drawing can proceed. Powerball has stringent security requirements to protect the integrity of the game and remains committed to holding a drawing that gives all players a fair chance to win. Due to the length of the draw delay, it is likely that we will not know the official results of the Powerball drawing until Tuesday morning. Players should hold onto their tickets.”

Forty-five states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands participate in Powerball. All 48 lotteries are required to finish processing their sales results and report the data before the drawing may be held. The Maryland Lottery is not the source of the delay, according to the press release.
Results are anticipated Tuesday morning.
