One step away from playing in their respective state championship games, Churchill and Blake both lost at home Friday night.
Churchill, despite 189 yards rushing from star running back David Avit, lost to Broadneck 31-7 in Potomac. The Bulldogs trailed 17-0 at halftime and only got on the board in the 4th quarter with the game far out of reach.
The Bulldogs end their best season in over two decades at 11-2.
Broadneck (11-2) will play Wise in the Maryland 4A championship game in Annapolis.

Blake’s best season in school history came to an end Friday night. North Point beat the host Bengals 28-7 in Silver Spring.
North Point (13-0) will play Mergenthaler from Baltimore in the state 3A/4A championship game in Annapolis.
