Montgomery County Police arrested and charged Efrain Diaz Romero, of Silver Spring, with the death of 42-year-old Candido Noe Rojas Rojas, as a result of a fatal hit-and-run collision on June 3 at 1:15 a.m.
Diaz Romero, 34, is charged with failure to immediately return and remain at the scene of the accident and other traffic related charges. He currently is being held without bond at Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
According to police, Rojas Rojas was struck by a black Chevrolet Silverado that was being driving eastbound on University Boulevard East. The driver of that car then left the scene, fleeing into Prince George’s County.
Takoma Park and Montgomery police and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the 1100 block of University Boulevard East following a report of a man lying in the road with head injuries.
Rojas Rojas was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
During their investigation, police officers located the car and identified Dias Romero as a suspect.
