75 minutes after the polls had closed Tuesday night, election results started to come in. Here is the count as of 9:15 p.m. that includes results from early voting, some mail in ballots and 25 of the county’s 257 precincts.
Rep. David Trone leads Prince George’s Executive Angela Alsobrooks with 51.71% of the vote to Alsobrooks’ 45.40%. All Maryland votes must be counted before their race to be the Democratic candidate for senator in November is finalized.
On the Republican ticket, former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan received 74.45% of the support of Montgomery County voters.
As of 9:15 p.m., April McClain Delaney was leading the Democratic ticket in the District 6 Congressional race to fill Trone’s seat, April McClain Delaney garnered 36.24% to Del. Joe Vogel’s 23.20%.
Montgomery County Councilmember Laurie-Ann Sayles had 7.05%.
On the Republican ticket, Neil Parrott was the front runner in Montgomery County with 39.81% of the vote.
District 6 consists of all of Garrett, Allegany, Frederick and Washington counties as well as part of Montgomery County.
In Congressional District 8, Rep. Jamie Raskin received the vast majority of the votes, 94.77%. Cheryl Riley was ahead on the Republican ticket with 70.81%.
In the Board of Education’s At Large District, incumbent Lynne Harris was ahead with 34.4% followed by Rita Montoya at 29.87% and Melissa Kim at 14.61%.
In District 2, Montgomery County Education Association endorsed candidate Natalie Zimmerman was leading with 45.26% followed by Brenda Diaz at 20.46% and incumbent Rebecca Smondrowsi at 19.46%.
In District 4, MCEA-endorsed candidate Laura Stewart received the most votes at 46.46% followed by incumbent Shebra Evans with 28.55% and Bethany Mandel at 24.98%.
In all three of the board of education races, the top two vote getters move onto the November ballot.
