Sportswriter and author John Eisenberg discussed his latest book, “Rocket Men: The Black Quarterbacks Who Revolutionized Pro Football,” at the Gaithersburg Book Festival on May 18. “Rocket Men” offers an inside look at Black quarterbacks whose skill and grit transformed football history and advanced civil rights. Change began in the 1990s and 2000s as outdated notions about Black quarterbacks faded, paving the way for stars like Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson.
Drawing on deep historical research and exclusive interviews, “Rocket Men” celebrates the athletes and activists who transformed the game.
