Montgomery County voters will elect four nonpartisan members to the Board of Education in the Nov. 8 general election. Board of Education members serve four year terms, The county is divided into BOE districts. The candidates must reside in the district, but voters elect all the members. This election cycle, voters are electing members from District 1, 3, and 5 and an at-large member.
Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 8 on election day. Early voting is available from Oct. 27 to Nov. 3 at 14 early voting centers throughout Montgomery County.
The candidates participated in a virtual forum hosted by the League of Women Voters earlier this month. The forum is available to watch on the League’s YouTube channel.
Montgomery Community Media invited the candidates running for the Board of Education to record a video statement. Watch their statements below:
At-large candidates include Mike Erickson and Karla Silvestre (incumbent).
District 1 candidates include Grace Rivera Oven and Esther Wells.
District 3 candidates include Scott Joftus (incumbent) and Julie Yang.
