Next week, County Executive Marc Elrich will go to San Diego for an international conference.
During a briefing Wednesday, Elrich said the county is “really working to raise our visibility.” He recently returned from an international trip to South Korea and China to attend a bio-health convention and to meet with companies.
He said the conference in California provides a “unique opportunity” to showcase work being done in the county and to position the county as a top destination for bio and tech investment and talent. Elrich attended the same conference last year in Boston, where the county made “some pretty good connections,” according to him.
“We have a good story to tell, and getting a platform to tell it has been really, I think, effective for us,” Elrich said. He said his attendance next week is about more than just being there, it is about actively promoting the county, building relationships, and bringing back opportunities — like during his overseas trips.
This month, Elrich returned from a trip to South Korea and China to attend an international bio-health convention and to meet with companies. This year, Elrich has also traveled to Taiwan for the second year in a row to represent the county during an international conference and to recruit companies. And last fall, he went to India and Vietnam for an economic development trade mission.
