Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich commented this week on a court ruling that left uncertainty for the future of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, the program that protects some who came to the U.S. unlawfully as children from deportation.
Elrich said Thursday that the ruling is unfair to DACA recipients and bad for this country. Thousands of residents in Montgomery County could be impacted, he said.
The ruling does not change anything immediately and recipients remain protected while the program is “at-risk” per Elrich.
