Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich announced Wednesday that he has recommended to the Montgomery County Council that Dr. James Bridgers be named director of the Department of Health and Human Services.
If he is approved, Bridgers would replace Dr. Raymond Crowel, who retired in February.
For the past several years, Bridgers has been part of the team leading the county through the pandemic and currently is chief of public health services. Bridgers served as acting health office until Dr. Kisha Davis was named.
The County Council will interview Dr. Bridgers on June 13 and is scheduled to take action on June 20.
Bridgers said Wednesday that he “looks forward” to serving and continuing providing services to the community.
