Elrich Seeks Input on FY27 Capital Budget at 6 Community Meetings

Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich will host six community meetings to discuss the Fiscal Year 2027 Capital Improvements Program (CIP) budget. Each session will focus on long-term priorities and major projects. Five meetings will be in person, and one will be virtual.

The first meeting will take place from 7-8:30 p.m. on Monday, March 31, at the Wheaton Community Recreation Center, 11701 Georgia Ave. in Wheaton. The final meeting, a virtual session, is scheduled for Tuesday, May 6, from 7-8:30 p.m.

Elrich encourages residents to attend and share their input. “These forums provide an opportunity for residents and stakeholders to have their voices heard and contribute ideas,” he said in a statement. The discussions will cover county infrastructure projects, including schools, transportation, affordable housing, public safety, parks, and libraries.

The capital budget funds long-term projects such as school construction, recreation centers, and transportation improvements. It differs from the operating budget, which covers annual expenses.

Each meeting will include a breakout session following Elrich’s presentation where county staff will discuss topics including education, the environment, general services, parks, recreation, and transportation.
