Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich issued a statement after Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were sworn in as the President and Vice President of the United States.
Elrich wished the new administration well, saying:
Today, America starts a new chapter as we welcome our 46th President Joe Biden and 49th Vice President Kamala Harris. They take office facing enormous challenges. Rebuilding our economy, winning the battle against COVID-19, saving our climate and building a more equitable society are all in our nation’s best interest, and I look forward to working with President Biden and his administration to take on these critical issues. I wish him and his administration the best and look to a brighter tomorrow for us all.
Before the ceremony started, Elrich tweeted Wednesday morning that he met with law enforcement about ensuring a safe inauguration.
Montgomery County police are teaming up with their regional partners in law enforcement to ensure a safe inauguration. Earlier today, I visited their @MontgomeryCoMD command center along with @mcpnews Chief Marcus Jones. pic.twitter.com/u6HkWhQmrJ
