County Executive Marc Elrich tested positive for COVID-19 Saturday.
“I have mild symptoms, just feeling tired, and I am grateful to be vaccinated and boosted. I will be isolating but will continue to work from home,” he announced.
“The dangers of the Omicron variant are real, and I encourage everybody to take necessary steps to stay safe. Our community’s high vaccination rate is critical to ensuring our ability to make it through this. Please remain vigilant, wear a mask, and get vaccinated and boosted!,” Elrich wrote.
Members of the county council issued a statement, wishing Elrich “a full and swift recovery,” adding, “We have been assured that he is in good spirits and will continue to perform his responsibilities as County Executive while recovering from the virus at home.”
Council President Gabe Albornoz tweeted, “Wishing our County Executive a full and speedy recovery. So happy that he is fully vaccinated/boosted, which provides some peace of mind. This is further evidence that we are in a difficult chapter in our fight against this virus.’
Councilmember Evan Glass tweeted, “Wishing County Executive Elrich a speedy recovery from COVID-19. I’m glad he’s been vaccinated and boosted, which has resulted in his mild symptoms.”
Councilmember Tom Hucker also tweeted. “Sending well wishes for a speedy recovery to @MontCoExec following his positive COVID-19 test result. I join him in urging residents to remain vigilant by masking up, getting vaccinated and boosted.”
