Following last week’s election, County Executive Marc Elrich commented Wednesday, “This isn’t our first rodeo with a Trump administration or with a Republican Congress, we’ve done this before.”
Republicans were projected to win control of the House of Representatives after also retaining control of the Senate.
“We’re basically taking the same approach that Governor Moore is taking,” Elrich said during a media briefing.
“If there are opportunities to cooperate, we’ll cooperate, if there are things we need to oppose we will not be shy about opposing them.”
He said the county is most immediately concerned about community members “who are living in fear and anxiety,” adding, “The temperature in the Latino community is highly elevated.”
