An emotional Sgt. Patrick Kepp addressed his fellow law enforcement professionals — who gave him a standing ovation — via video from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center at WRAP’s 2023 Law Enforcement Awards in McLean, Va. Friday.
Kepp grew emotional as he thanked family, friends and colleagues according to NBC4. “To my law enforcement family and all those who have been incredibly instrumental in making it so I’m here today to talk to you.”
Kepp had both legs were amputated after being intentionally hit by a driver in October. He was transported last week from the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore to Walter Reed. His escort was met with dozens of police officers honoring him.
Montgomery County Police Chief Marcus Jones tweeted: “Thank you WRAP for allowing Sgt. Kepp to address attendees of this important awards ceremony. Thank you for acknowledging his tremendous contributions to our community. He is an amazing human being as well as a police officer. Congratulations to all of the awardees.”
