Enrollment for prekindergarten to 12th grade at Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) is 159,671, which is a decrease of 552 students.
According to a report from MCPS Superintendent Dr. Thomas Taylor, as of Sept. 30, the enrollment was 155,671 without including prekindergarten students. That marks a decrease of 742 students from the previous school year.
By the 2030-2031 school year, total enrollment is predicted at 162,178 students, which according to Taylor’s report “represents a slight slowdown in growth, due to the continued decline in resident births, resulting in reduced size kindergarten classes.”
During the 2020-2021 school year, enrollment was 160, 564.
