Montgomery County leaders say unvaccinated adults drive the recent increase in COVID-19 cases. Data shows that it’s not just happening locally but nationwide – especially as the delta variant runs rampant.
“We know that children under 12 can’t, but it’s that older population that if they get sick, they are very likely to be in a position to transmit it… we’re trying to maintain everything we have in its current open state, folks who don’t want to get vaccinated are really jeopardizing this,” said County Executive Marc Elrich during his weekly virtual media briefing on Wednesday.
Elrich and Montgomery County Health Officer Dr. Travis Gayles explain current data metrics and what needs to be done for cases to trend back down.
