The 25th annual Heritage Days festival will take place this weekend, celebrating Montgomery County’s historic, cultural, and outdoor recreation sites. The event, scheduled for Saturday, June 29, and Sunday, June 30, features over 30 museums and parks offering exhibits, demonstrations, live music, family-friendly activities, and tours of some of the county’s oldest historic sites, all free of charge.
Visitors can enjoy scenic drives through the agricultural reserve, featuring rolling hills and hidden gems such as historic barns and farm stands selling locally grown produce. The festival encourages exploration of the county’s Rustic Roads and Scenic Byways by car or bike, with opportunities for picnicking along waterways and stays in historic lockhouses or bed and breakfasts.
The festival highlights the farm-to-table traditions of the county’s ancestors, with visits to quaint towns, innovative restaurants, wineries, distilleries, and breweries. Additionally, participants can immerse themselves in the rich histories of the Civil War, agriculture, local railroads and trolleys, and African American communities.
