Montgomery County Recreation will host two free summer camp fairs in January to help families plan summer activities.
The first fair takes place Sunday, Jan. 5, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Germantown Community Recreation Center, 18905 Kingsview Road. The second fair will be Saturday, Jan. 11, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the East County Community Recreation Center, 3310 Gateshead Manor Way in Silver Spring.
The fairs offer families a chance to explore camp options with games, activities, and more. Attendees can try arts, crafts, games, and snacks similar to those offered at summer camps. Families can also meet recreation staff and instructors to ask questions about programs.
“Summer camp is an integral part in the development of our youth and an experience that can create lifelong memories and friendships,” said County Executive Marc Elrich. “I encourage families to explore the many offerings available with our Recreation Department and to sign up early.”
Parents are encouraged to plan ahead, as many camps fill quickly. Registration for summer camp programs begins Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 6:30 a.m. for Montgomery County residents. Camps will be available to view online at ActiveMONTGOMERY.org starting Dec. 20, and the digital GUIDE will be released on Jan. 3.
Families attending the fairs can register on-site for Rec Assist, the department’s financial aid program. Applicants should bring necessary documentation to ensure funds are available immediately upon approval.
Montgomery County Recreation offers hundreds of summer camp programs across the county.
