A family of two was displaced after tree branches went into their roof.
Fire and rescue was dispatched to the 1200 block of Woodside Parkway in Silver Spring at about 2 p.m. Tuesday for a call about a tree in a house, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer. Firefighters found tree branches that had gone into the roof, and there was no power. Piringer stated the family of two was displaced and there were no injuries.
Highway services crews answered 55 calls to remove trees from roads, according to the county’s transportation department.
The National Weather Service issued a high wind warning for the county Tuesday afternoon through early Wednesday. The county was also under a flood watch Tuesday due to heavy rainfall.
MCFRS was dispatched to Beach Drive and Cedar Lane in Kensington around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday for a vehicle in flood water, according to Piringer. Firefighters removed the vehicle and person from high water and there were no injuries, he stated.
