Residents, Politicians Flock to Kensington Labor Day Parade

Monday was a picture-perfect day for a parade through Kensington neighborhoods. Bands and floats brought a smile to spectators who lined Howard Avenue’s Antique Row.

Many local politicians took advantage of the event to meet with voters. Congressman Jamie Raskin, Council President Andrew Friedson, Councilmember Gabe Albornoz, and candidates Cheryl Riley and Laura Stewart, among others, marched down the route waving and shaking hands with the crowds.

Fire engines let their sirens wail as members of the Kensington Volunteer Fire Department drove down the street to the delight of children of all ages.

The 56th Annual parade was followed by a street festival on Armory Avenue.
