A motorist died in a single vehicle collision on Georgia Ave. and Kayson St. early Sunday morning.
Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) officers and the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) personnel responded to a report that a car had hit a pole around 1:45 a.m. in the Wheaton area, according to a MCPD media release.
The adult male driver, who was the only occupant in the vehicle and the only person involved in the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene. MCPD is withholding the motorist’s name as well as details of the incident until the motorist’s next of kin is notified.
Currently, this is an open and active investigation.
Drivers in the Wheaton area should practice extra caution and expect traffic delays following road closures along Northbound Georgia Ave, according to MCPD.
TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Northbound Georgia Ave. is closed from Kayson St. to Rippling Brook Dr. as the result of a traffic collision.
Drivers are advised to seek an alternate route.
