Extra Montgomery County Public School (MCPS) security personnel and police were on site at James H. Blake High School Friday following a fight Thursday that escalated.
According to a letter from Principal Shanay Snead, there were several incidents at the school Thursday that “affected our school community.”
There was a fight between a few students that escalated into a larger incident off school property after school ended, Snead wrote in a message to the high school community.
School staff deescalated the matter, and there were no serious injuries, according to Snead, who noted, “We have been made aware that some photos and videos of off-campus altercations have been circulating online.”
“As an extra precautionary measure,” Blake personnel asked that the community engagement officer, who is Montgomery County police officer, be at the school on Norwood Road in Colesville throughout the day Friday.
Snead asked parents to speak with their children and remind them that fighting is prohibited at school and “is not an acceptable way to resolve conflicts.”
