According to MCFRS spokesperson Pete Piringer, the fire was caused by improperly disposed hot ashes and coals on a wood deck on the side of the house. The deck and siding ignited the fire, which then spread to the second floor and attic of the home before MCFRS arrived on the scene. No injuries were reported and the family was evacuated safely.
