First County Charter School Breaks Ground

Ground was broken Wednesday for Montgomery County’s first charter school.

The MECCA Business Learning Institute, a middle school career academy for business, entrepreneurship and leadership, is set to open at 20261 Goldenrod Lane in Germantown for the 2025-2026 school year.

The school will be home to sixth and seventh graders its first year and is expected to add a new grade each year through twelfth grade. It is open to all Montgomery County students.

The school will be a business-focused career academy that uses hands-on learning, business-centered projects and career development opportunities.
