On April 10, Maryland guard Abby Meyers was selected 11th overall in the WNBA Draft by the Dallas Wings.
And just 35 days later, Meyers was waived by the Wings before the beginning of the regular season.

Meyers, a Potomac native, was voted second team All Big Ten at Maryland last year, the Ivy League player of the year in 2022 at Princeton and is the all-time leading scorer at Walt Whitman High School.
Meyers was not the only high profile player cut. South Carolina alums Brea Beal and Destanni Henderson were also surprisingly waived. The WNBA has only 12 teams with 12 players per team so roster spots come at a premium. League expansion — which would create more teams and rosters spots — has been considered but nothing has been announced.
