It’s Monday, Sept. 14, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.
1. Bethesda Repaving Project: Multiple lanes of Wisconsin Avenue at Old Georgetown Road will close Monday from 8 p.m. through Tuesday at 5 a.m. Montgomery Avenue will also be closed to thru traffic during this time.
2. Municipal Monday: Gaithersburg’s Mayor and Council meet virtually for a work session at 7:30 p.m. Here’s the agenda and the work packet. Tanisha Briley, the new City Manager will take the oath of office. The Rockville Mayor and Council meet at 6 p.m. The agenda may be found here. The Kensington Mayor and Council meet virtually Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. Here’s the agenda with instructions to watch on Zoom.
3. COVID-19 Testing: Montgomery County is holding two free testing clinics today. Testing is available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Wheaton Library and Community Recreation Center and also in Germantown at the parking garage behind the Regal Cinemas. More information is available here.
4. County Budget Forums: County Executive Marc Elrich will hold the first of seven virtual budget forums Monday at 7 p.m. The forums are intended to gather input from residents about their budget priorities. The forum is hosted via Microsoft Teams. Join the meeting here.
5. COVID-19 Telephone Town Hall: Senator Van Hollen is hosting a telephone town hall Monday at 6:45 p.m. to provide an update on COVID-19 and take questions. Dr. Harolyn Belcher, Professor of Pediatrics at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine joins Van Hollen.
