Flags Lowered to Half-Staff for Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day

Flags across Maryland will fly at half-staff Saturday, Dec. 7, to honor National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.

President Joe Biden ordered the United States flag lowered for 24 hours, starting at midnight Friday. The flag will return to full-staff at midnight Saturday.

This action honors Americans who lost their lives during the Pearl Harbor attack on Dec. 7, 1941.

Following protocol, Maryland will also lower its flag, as no state flag may fly higher than the U.S. flag.

National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day serves as a solemn tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
