Former Gaithersburg City Manager Tony Tomasello comes out of retirement to lead operations in Poolesville.
Tomasello will be Poolesville Town Manager effective Aug. 30, according to a release from the town. He was Gaithersburg City Manager from 2012-2020 before retiring last year.
In 1996, Tomasello joined City of Gaithersburg as its first Economic Development Director.
He said in the release, “I have spent the largest part of my career as a senior manager in a municipal government setting within Montgomery County, Maryland. I am honored to bring my local knowledge and municipal experience to serve the Town of Poolesville and its residents.”
Seth Rivard resigned as Town Manager in March after serving since Jan. 2020.
Tomasello was selected through a recruitment process conducted by the Town Commissioners.
“Tony comes to the Town of Poolesville after retiring from the City of Gaithersburg, Maryland, having served the city for nearly 25 years in various leadership roles,” said Kerri Cook, President of Poolesville’s Town Commissioners. “We are quite confident in his ability to immediately step in and effectively manage the Town of Poolesville.”
