Montgomery County COVID-19 Statistics for March 24
The Maryland Department of Health reported 139 new COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County Wednesday morning. The county’s cumulative case count is 65,825.
Montgomery County recorded two coronavirus-related fatalities Wednesday. The death toll is currently 1,417, the highest in the state.
As of March 22, there are 99 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in Montgomery County.
As of Wednesday, 28 schools in the state are reporting COVID-19 cases, of those 28 schools, four are located in Montgomery County. They include:
- Rochambeau, The French International School in Bethesda reports two cases.
- The Norwood School in Bethesda reports two cases.
- Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda reports four cases.
- Winston Churchill High School in Potomac reports two cases.
The county has a rolling seven-day average of 2.95% for positive COVID-19 tests, which is an increase of 0.17 from Tuesday’s average rate of 2.78%. The county’s positivity rate is lower than in 21 of Maryland’s 24 jurisdictions.
With 1,417 fatalities, Montgomery County leads the state in total COVID-19 related fatalities but not in total cases. Prince George’s County has the most coronavirus cases in the state with 76,750 cases and 1,348 fatalities.
Somerset County located on Maryland’s Eastern Shore has the most cases per capita with 96 cases per 1,000 residents. Allegany County in the western region of the state has the second-highest cases per capita at 91.8 cases per 1,000 residents.
Maryland COVID-19 Statistics for March 24
Wednesday the state recorded 1,173 new infections bringing the state’s cumulative case count to 402,600.
There are currently 915 patients hospitalized for COVID-19 across the state as of Wednesday morning. While this is a significantly lower level than January’s pandemic high numbers, hospitalizations are increasing. Wednesday is the first day there are more than 900 Marylanders hospitalized with COVID-19 since March 1.
There are 28 schools in the state reporting COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday morning.
Wednesday the state recorded 19 newly reported deaths, bringing the state death toll to 8,029.
The state reported a rolling seven-day average of 4.59% for positive COVID-19 tests Wednesday. This is an increase of 0.14 from Tuesday’s rate of 4.45%.
