Four Silver Spring men were sentenced for their parts in an armed robbery in Takoma Park last summer.
According to Takoma Park Police Chief Antonio DeVaul, at 11:30 p.m. on June 6, 2020, police responded to the 8200 block of Flower Avenue where they found a victim sitting in the area who told police he saw four men exit a vehicle near him and then began assaulting him. One of the suspects pointed a firearm at him, and they forcibly took some of his possessions. The suspects then ran back to their vehicle and fled northbound.
The next day, Montgomery County police officers observed the vehicle on New Hampshire Avenue at Piney Branch Road and saw it turn into the parking lot of a 7-11 on E. University Avenue.
During an investigation, two firearms were found, and the victim’s property was visible in the back seat.
The Circuit Court for Montgomery County on April 16 sentenced Eric De Jesus Flete to 12 years, Edwin De Jesus Flete to 15 years, Edgar De Jesus Flete to 18 months, waiving credit for 10 months, and Hector Miguel Rodriguez to time served.
Charges included armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, first degree assault, conspiracy to commit first degree assault, second degree assault, theft, possession of a loaded firearm and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
