Since then, Montgomery County native Shaquille Stewart, 30, moved into acting and appeared in numerous performances throughout the Washington, D.C. area. Recently, he was named executive director of the Silver Spring Stage, where he plans to spruce up the building and increase community involvement.
Stewart, a 2010 Quince Orchard High School grad who played on the football team, moved from props to the stage. He has performed throughout the D.C. area, especially acting in Shakespeare plays.
Silver Spring Stage has been located below ground in the Woodmoor shopping center on Colesville Road since 1968. It seats about 120 people.
