Gaithersburg’s Storm Drain Art Contest, which culminates in a paint-out in June, is designed to show the importance of protecting the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
The contest is sponsored by Gaithersburg Parks, and Arts and Recreation Corporation and Arts and Culture Alliance in conjunction with the City’s Stormwater Management Program and Cultural Events and Services Division.
Artists can submit their designs online or through the mail by March 22, which is World Water Day.
The winning designs will be painted on the storm drain covers throughout the City and also will decorate banners, posters, coloring books, social media and other educational materials. The selections will be announced on Earth Day, April 22.
Gaithersburg is also seeking volunteers for the paint-out.
