The City of Gaithersburg announced on Monday that the Aquatic Center is open for lap swimming and water exercise classes. Both services are only available by reservation, as safety guidlines are still in effect to help contain Covid-19.
Lap swimming and water walking activities are available every day of the week during certain times. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, these activities are available from 4 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Every Tuesday and Thursday, these activities are available from 4 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. For people who prefer weekends, these activities are available from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m on Saturdays and Sundays. The Aquatic Center has also put the following safety guidelines into effect:
- Only one person per Lap Lane, and they are limited to one hour during lap swim times only.
- When entering the facility, patrons must certify they are free from COVID-19 symptoms.
- Patrons should stay at least six feet apart (both in and out of the water) from other individuals who are not from their own household.
- Patrons must wear face coverings when moving about the facility and interacting with staff or other individuals not from their household. Face coverings are not to be worn in the water.
- Lost and Found items will be disposed of at the end of each day.
- Credit cards are the preferred payment method.
- Patrons are encouraged to arrive in swim attire.
- Please do not sit around the pool edge with patrons who are not in your family.
- Water fountain is available for bottle fill only.
