Firefighters responded to a fire in the 8600 block of Kelso Terrace in Gaithersburg around 4 p.m. Saturday. Around 75 firefighters responded on scene.
After several hours, they were able to get the fire under control.
Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson Pete Piringer said the fire appeared to have started on the outside of the two-story townhouse and quickly spread to the roof.
A family of five was displaced after the fire destroyed their home. Damages are estimated at $200,000.
No one was seriously injured. One resident was taken to the hospital with non-threatening injuries.
