A fire that started in a garage displaced a family of seven adults, one infant and one dog in Gaithersburg, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) Chief Public Information Officer Pete Piringer.
On Oct. 2 at approximately 5 a.m., about 50 MCFRS firefighters responded to a call of a fire in a two-story home on Duvall Street off of West Deer Park Road. Piringer said upon arrival the firefighters encountered heavy fire conditions.
The family got out of the home with no injuries and the fire was extinguished, according to Piringer’s post on X.
Piringer said the fire was electrical in nature since there was a vehicle power cord plugged into an outlet with extension cords and vehicle battery systems in the area. The damages are estimated at $100,000.
