“CTE Month” is recognized every February to highlight Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs.
Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) offers such programs, which provide technical skill education and career-related experiences. On Tuesday, Superintendent Dr. Monifa McKnight and school board members toured programs at Gaithersburg High School, including a child development class and automotive technology/collision class.
According to MCPS, last week the school board tentatively adopted a $3.2 billion Fiscal Year 2024 Operating Budget that makes investments in CTE programs.
Students are able to earn certifications after completing the courses.
McKnight said she was “just thrilled to see our students taking so much pride in the programs, and interest, and feeling that although they are in high school, they are prepared for everything beyond high school.”
