Gaithersburg High School students are selling refurbished cars and computers on Saturday, Dec. 14. The sale will take place at the school from 9 to 11 a.m.
According to the MCPS website, all cars are Maryland State Inspected. For vehicles with less than 90,000 miles, either a 30-day or 1,000 mile powertrain warranty is included. Vehicles with over 90,000 miles are discounted and sold as-is.
To purchase a car, customers must enter a lottery by purchasing a ticket. After test drives end at 10:45 a.m., the lottery will begin. Those who have their ticket drawn can choose which car they want to buy.
Refurbished computers that are sold have had a new operating system installed. Additionally, they come complete with a monitor, keyboard and mouse.
The sale gives students enrolled in the Montgomery County Automotive Trades Foundation and Information Technology Foundation practical experience to enhance their learning. As part of their curriculum, these students apply what they learn in the classroom to an actual work environment.
Additionally, the sale gives them the chance to practice their sales and customer-relations skills. It’s also an opportunity to earn Student Service Learning (SSL) hours needed to graduate, as well as give back to the community.
