A house fire in Gaithersburg displaced three adults and two dogs Saturday, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) Chief Public Information Officer Pete Piringer.
Piringer said approximately 55 MCFRS firefighters responded to a house fire on Rolling Knolls Court off of Goshen Road at approximately 6:45 p.m. Neighbors passing by the house notified the occupants about smoke or fire coming from the roof. The occupants got out of the house and none were injured. The house did have working smoke alarms, according to Piringer’s post on X.
An electrical malfunction caused the fire, according to Piringer. An old attic exhaust fan overheated and nearby combustibles caught on fire. Piringer said the damages are estimated at $150,000.
