A Gaithersburg man won the $500,000 Crossword scratch-off lottery game.
He recently picked up his $500,000 winnings at Lottery Headquarters in Baltimore, according to a news release.
Maryland allows lottery winners to remain anonymous.
The Gaithersburg resident, who had already planned to retire in September, won the top prize with a $20 instant ticket he purchased at the Grog Beer Wine & Deli on Quince Orchard Road.
He plans to use his winnings to purchase a new home.
The Grog Beer, Wine & Deli located at 513 Quince Orchard Road in Gaithersburg will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling a top-prize winning scratch-off worth $100,000 or more.
