A Gaithersburg photographer won first-place in the Insects and Arachnids category in the Nature Conservancy annual contest, capturing a close-up of a wolf spider carrying its babies.
Ben Salb took his winning photo in a neighborhood park in Gaithersburg, according to WTOP.
According to the Nature Conservancy, Salb was declared the winner in the contest where 80,000 photographers submitted over 189,000 entries.
Salb has a prevalent following on his Instagram, where he’s amassed over 155 thousand followers. His profile features some of his photography work, including his award-winning photo.
Salb’s prize for winning the contest is a $1000 Amazon gift card.
