According to a study conducted by WalletHub, Gaithersburg is No. 1 in its 2023 ranking of the most diverse cities in the United States.
WalletHub says this is the final installment in their diversity studies series that looks into socioeconomic, economic, cultural, and household and religious diversity in cities across the country.
“It’s important to embrace diversity- and it’s good for the economy, too,” wrote WalletHub Financial Writer Adam McCann. Not only have waves of immigration changed the face of the nation, they’ve also brought in fresh perspectives, skills, and technologies to help the U.S. develop a strong adaptability to change.”
Other cities in the county also made the list. Germantown is ranked No. 2, Silver Spring No. 3, and Rockville is ranked No. 13. Gaithersburg, with a total score of 73.09, also stood out for the many different languages residents speak, racial and ethic diversity, and quality of education.
This isn’t the first time that the city and others in the county have made it on WalletHub’s list celebrating diversity. In February a list ranked Germantown #1, Gaithersburg #3, Silver Spring #4, and Rockville #8 in most culturally diverse cities in the U.S. The latest list adds household diversity and religious diversity with their previous reports.
