A 16-year-old Gaithersburg resident was arrested and charged with multiple car thefts and possession of a gun.
According to Montgomery County Police, on Nov. 16 at 10:30 p.m., detectives observed a stolen Honda Accord in the area of 12100 Darnestown Road. They discovered the 16-year-old in the driver seat with a loaded Taurus 9mm semiautomatic gun in his pocket. Police apprehended the teen without incident.
Following an investigation, police learned the car keys to the stolen Honda were taken during a Nov. 8 theft from a Toyota Camry.
The suspect was taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit and was charged as an adult with multiple auto theft, procession of a firearm, and theft from an automobile related charges. The teen is awaiting extradition to Washington, D.C., for robbery charges.
