An electrical fire Tuesday caused about $100,000 damage to Gene’s Costumes, which is located in the 10600 block of Connecticut Avenue in Kensington, according to Pete Piringer, spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue (MCFRS).
No one was injured in the afternoon blaze.
The commercial building originally was a two-story single home.
The store has been in business for more than 30 years and is known as the place to go for costumes. During Halloween, a gigantic inflatable pumpkin is attached to the roof.
