Germantown Family Spreads Holiday Cheer with Dazzling Christmas Light Display

A Germantown family is inviting the community to enjoy a Christmas-themed light display and holiday trail through Jan. 5. The free event includes snow and smoke machines, synchronized music, and a variety of handmade decorations.

Among the highlights are a handcrafted nativity stable, flying angels created by their uncle Indika, and a 10-foot Star of Bethlehem made by uncles Lahiru and Dinesh. The display also features a 20-foot inflatable Santa, snowman, reindeer, flying angels, and thousands of twinkling lights. Two lighted angels placed near the stable honor the family’s late grandmothers, Sulia and Lolita, who passed away in 2020.

Supuli and Pahan Salgado, with support from family and friends, designed the light display to bring joy to the community. “We want to share happiness and the holiday spirit with everyone,” the Salgado siblings told MCM.

The “Salgado Family Christmas Display” runs from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on weekends, Friday through Sunday, weather permitting. Admission is free, but the family is collecting monetary and non-perishable food donations for Manna Foods, a local food bank.

The display is located at 11104 Knights Ct., Germantown, and will remain open through Jan. 5.
