Albeniz Victor Bonilla, 50, of Germantown, was arrested and charged in a domestic violence incident involving a gun on Wednesday.
Montgomery County Police received a call at 7 p.m. from a woman who said her sister was being held against her will by her boyfriend. The caller told police that there was a child inside the home in the 11400 block of Appledowre Way in Germantown and that the boyfriend probably had a gun.
When police arrived, there was no answer at the door so they asked the caller to contact the victim. They then learned the victim was trying to leave the house, but her boyfriend said he would shoot her if she did.
Officers heard a female scream and saw the victim and the suspect outside the home with a handgun visible in Bonilla’s waistband, police said.
The officers reported that they disarmed Bonilla and took him into custody. Neither the woman nor the child were injured, according to police.
During an investigation, police learned Bonilla was a felon, and therefore illegally in possession of an unregistered 9mm handgun.
Bonilla was charged with first-degree assault, false imprisonment and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. He is being held without bond at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
