Maryland Lottery introduced a new version of the Bingo scratch-off game on March 20. A Germantown resident is the first to win the top prize of $100,000 which he claimed at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore this week.
The 47-year-old works near the Quince Orchard Shell gas station and decided to purchase one of the $10 bingo-themed scratch-off tickets. He told lottery officials he rarely plays and was shocked when he discovered he had won $100,000.
“My body started shaking,” the winner said. He immediately called his wife and son to share the news.
And how will he spend his winnings? He plans to pay bills and pay off car loans.
The Quince Orchard Shell receives a $1,000 bonus from the lottery for selling a top-prize winning ticket.
Maryland allows lottery winners to remain anonymous.
